I agree with my colleague, it is not legal to park on front of the fire hydrant unless you are driving a fire truck. Yes you all were very lucky to not get tickets the other times but the purpose of the law is so that a firetruck/firefighters will be able to get the the fire hydrant during a fire emergency.
