Cranking the engine is actually one way to put put an engine fire when starting the engine…..of course you have to cut the fuel being fed to the engine….its one of the procedures for aircraft when you encounter a fire on start. Cut fuel, keep cranking. Burns the fuel inside the engine hopefully, instead of feeding whatever is on fire.
